Structural Engineering International - August issue is published
SEI August issue has been published online and must have arrived at your office or home by now. The Editorial in this issue is by Prof. Dr. Andreas Lampropoulos on the topic 'Towards Urban and Structural Resilience in Earthquake Engineering'. A. Lampropoulos is highly engaged with IABSE, and this year he also published a Case Study: 'Case Studies on Conservation and Seismic Strengthening/Retrofitting of Existing Structures'
Task Group 1.3: Calibration of Partial Safety Factors for the Assessment of Existing Bridges
Mission Statement/Objectives: Investigate how performance models (with a focus on semi-probabilistic approach) can be built with reference to physical models (parametric approach) and use potential information derived from inspection/monitoring strategies.
If you are interested in joining this Task Group, write to us at secretariat@iabse.org with your intention to join, and preferably your CV. More about TG 1.3
Task Group 1.8: Design Requirements for Infrastructure Resilience
Mission Statement/Objectives: Various natural and human-induced hazard events are resulting in more and more severe consequences to the built environment which in turn affects the societies and economies that this infrastructure supports – exacerbated by increased urbanization. Therefore, it is essential to sustain the functionality and operability of critical infrastructure during and after the hazard event, minimize the direct and indirect losses, and mitigate the consequences in the aftermath of a disaster. More about TG 1.8
Recent Activity:
A special session was organized by TG1.8, in ICONHIC-2022 (https://iconhic.com/2021/ ) entitled: « The role of information in infrastructure resilience: Methods and tools», found at this link which was led by Nisrine Makhoul, Sotiris Argyroudis, and John van de Lindt (TG1.8 members). 9 Members took part in this conference.
A physical meeting took place on 7 June for the 9 attending TG1.8 members, and online for the other members. It was followed by their first social event, a dinner afterwards.
Finally for this session 8 authors from TG1.8 members submitted articles with topics related to the T1.8 topic.
