IABSE Honorary Membership is presented to Yaojun Ge, China. Y. Ge is a past President of IABSE (2019-2022), a full-time professor and former chairman of the Department of Bridge Engineering, Tongji University. He was the Chair of the Chinese Group of IABSE, a delegate of the Permanent Committee from 2010 to 2018, and has contributed to several committees within IABSE.
IABSE International Award of Merit is presented to Ton Vrowenvelder, The Netherlands. T. Vrouwenvelder presently works as a Senior Researcher in the Structural Reliability Dept. at TNO (the Netherlands Organisation for applied scientific research). Ton’s academic career is impressive, with more than 25 years of teaching, 22 doctoral theses under his supervision and numerous technical publications. His recent research is in development of reliability based standards, assessment of existing structures, fire safety engineering, probabilistic models in relation to induced earthquakes and probabilistic fatigue life updating accounting—for inspections.
IABSE Early Career Prize is presented to David Knight, UK. D.Knight is an outstanding young leader of our profession and an inspiring role model for his generation. His commitment to pursuing excellence in engineering design and construction is of the highest standard, and he is a very effective ambassador for structural engineering. His combination of artistic and architectural skills with engineering excellence is powerful and effective, as seen in all his works. His designs include several award-winning bridges, many of which have been opening bridges where the synergy of structural, mechanical and architectural design has been a factor. IABSE Award for National Group of the Year is presented to the British National Group for their remarkable commitment, consistent and innovative programs to engage members and promote the Association's mission to the industry. Their annual events include the Annual Lecture; Annual Dinner, the Henderson Colloquium, Milne Medal Lecture, Future of Design conferences; Nethercot Prize competition for young authors. On 19 May 2023, in a collaborative effort, the IABSE Korean Group and the Korean Institute of Bridge and Structural Engineers (KIBSE)recently organised their annual field visit and workshop event, offering members a unique opportunity to explore and learn about the fascinating world of pedestrian suspension bridges. The event, held at Geochang-gun, Republic of Korea, attracted 32 members, including renowned experts, enthusiasts and students from the field. Read more here ...

From 23-25 May 2023, AFGC (the French Group of IABSE) and AUGC (Association of Civil engineering Universities) collaborated to organize the Civil Engineering Congress CFGC 2023, which was held in the new campus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay, and was attended by 450 participants.
